From La Rochelle: Sailing Cruise to Fort Boyard

1.From La Rochelle: Sailing Cruise to Fort Boyard

★★★★★★★★★★4.8 · 623 reviews · 4 hours · from $53Our pick

Set out from La Rochelle’s old harbor on a 16-meter sailing catamaran with a French captain and crew. Cross the bay, pass the Richelieu Tower and Les Minimes, then circle Fort Boyard. Bring a picnic, enjoy the trampolines, and ask the crew about the boat and local coast.

“We had booked earlier trip at midday on previous day but this was deferred due to weather. Our trip left dock at 19.30. Conditions were choppy and seating on catamaran is meagre. Do not recall any info called out re islands we passed. Crew handled navigation with skill and good humour, keenness to say a little in English not huge though.”

2.Alanya: Family-Friendly Catamaran Cruise with Castle Views

★★★★★★★★★★3.9 · 41 reviews · from $20Best value

Spend five relaxed hours sailing from Alanya Harbour past the castle, Red Tower, shipyard, and three coastal caves. You’ll get swimming stops near Cleopatra Beach, chicken barbecue lunch, unlimited soft drinks, music, and multilingual crew support. Bring swimwear, sunscreen, a towel, and snorkeling gear.

“The tour was very nice. Drinks were well chilled and plentiful on board. Lunch was also good. Not much, but delicious! The swimming opportunities and the foam party were a highlight. The promised children's entertainment was a bit lacking. But that wasn't a problem because the tour was exciting even for the little ones. The toilets on board are definitely a real problem! You should avoid these if possible because they are actually not acceptable (just from the smell)!”
